Aroma starts off promising- roasted coffee and a bit of chocolate with some citrusy hops. The appearance is not as impressive- dark dark brown with no head to speak of. Flavor is frustrating- acidity that isnt sharp or harsh, but still keeps any better complex flavors in the background. What does pop up is a somewhat chalky chocolate and orange. Fi
The chicory is in there, but I thought the coffee overpowered it. In the end it just seemed like another fairly dry stout that went heavy on the coffee. Certainly not bad, but not up to DFHs usual standards.
Good smoked flavor but not overwhelming. Not too heavy and very smooth. The coffee adds a nice note to this beer.
