Very dark, with smoky & chocolatey hints. More bitterness than many stouts. Dry finish. Very drinkable. Unfortunately, the brewery seems to have gone bust for the umpteenth time and, whilst the beers may still be available, they are brewed by Blackpool brewery. Draught on handpump, The Speaker, London SW1, March 2003
Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Unexpectedly lovely. More like an old style, Dave suggests its actually a porter despite the pub-clips claim to being a stout. F-ing lovely in any case.
Cask Handpump at Wilkies Tavern, Warrington 18/07/2004 Black stout which is smooth on the palate. Slightly dry pleasant roast malt finish.
