Honestly the most drinkable barley wine that I know of. Rich crimson hue with a tan-white head. Nice carbonation. Piney and citrusy hop nose lead into a fairly dry and medium body mouthfeel. I think the reason for the popularity of this beer is that it really is a neglected beer style, Imperial Red Ale. I dont care what the brewery calls it th
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2007 Pours opaque amber with a fully receding tan head. Aroma of sweet caramelized wort, mild citrus (grapefruit), and cantaloupe soaked in peach liqueur. Taste is viscous caramelized alefruits with a nearly overwhelming hop syrup quality. Mouthfeel is sweet, sticky, and quite heavy. Unimpressive.
This is my very favorite barley wine because its not a big malt bomb like traditional barley wines. In fact, the hops in this make it almost taste like an American Strong ale.
