Beer Information

De Eem: Duchtig

This doppelbock is/was brewed by De Eem in Amersfoort, Utrecht, Netherlands. It's achieved an overall score of 66.53%. Based on 1 tasting, the average ABV is 8.00%.

A bold triple-collaboration between Leeds’ Northern Monk, Glasgow’s Overtone, and Nottingham’s Neon Raptor, boasting a 7% ABV DDH IPA formidably positioned as the "North's tag team." This beer pours a hazy, bright orange-gold and is built on a creamy, soft base, featuring malt and adjuncts that let the hops shine. The dry hopping includes Citra, Strata, Idaho 7, and El Dorado, delivering juicy tropical fruits and zesty citrus alongside a clean dank bitterness.

On the nose, expect ripe pineapple, papaya, grapefruit, and tangerine, complemented by a light biscuity malt and a subtle grassy, dank twist. The palate echoes this profile with a balance of tropical sweetness and fresh citrus flavours, finished with a crisp, moderately bitter lingering that keeps it refreshing.

The mouthfeel is soft and medium-bodied, making it easy to enjoy at room or cooler temperature. Though the “North vs South” duo was released as duelling brews, with this version representing the North, it has since been discontinued. However, it's a noteworthy example of regional unity and hop-forward creativity. If you manage to find a leftover can at pubs or rare-stock shops, it stands out as a refined, fruity-dank DDH IPA that's fun, flavourful and distinctly Northern.
