Deya: Chelt-Vegas

This imperial stout (specifically Belgian dark sugar, cocoa nib and bourbon vanilla paste imperial stout) is/was brewed by Deya in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. It's achieved an overall score of 75.75%. Based on 1 tasting, the average ABV is 12.50%.

With their DDF Gingerbread Imperial Stout, Vault City Brewing, together with Nerdbrewing, has produced a masterpiece. Part of Vault City's creative 'double-deep-fried' line, this strong beer has a 16% ABV and offers a fresh interpretation on a Scottish culinary legacy. Hinting at its rich, full-bodied character, the beer pours an impenetrable black with a minimal tan head.

With subdued overtones of caramel and roasted malts, the scent of this strong stout is an inviting mix of gingerbread, dark chocolate, vanilla, and liquorice. The fiery ginger gets more noticeable as it warms, exactly capturing the core of a newly made gingerbread cookie. The intricacy of the aroma creates great anticipation for the flavour to follow.

DDF Gingerbread is truly a masterpiece of flavour. Rich dark chocolate and molasses flavours complement the warming, spicy ginger blast that first sweetens offers. Vanilla, caramel and maple syrup hints provide the taste sensation complexity. The beer's velvety, somewhat viscous mouthfeel coats the palate without becoming cloying, despite its strong alcohol concentration. From the roasted malts, the finish is warming and lasting, with just the right mix of sweetness and subdued bitterness. A sumptuous, dessert-like experience, this imperial stout highlights the brewers' ability to produce a sophisticated, joyful beer.
