Historical Community Tasting Notes

Preserved from the RateBeer community archive (circa 2000–2018)

Dark black or brown pour (it was getting dark outside) with a rapidly diminishing tannish head. Aromas were of dried fruits (raisens), alcohol touches, some malts (chocolate). Flavor was made up of sweeter malts clashing with the alcohol, darker fruit flavors also aid in hiding the alcohol. Warming mouthfeel, and caramel/roast finish.
My first experience with this yummiest and most perfect of beers was purchasing a six pack right before a big snow storm hit a couple of Decembers ago. Talk about your perfect beer moments! If I could afford to buy cases and cases of this stuff to have around all the time, do you think I would? You bet your bottom dollar, I would.
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2006 Bottle, 9.2%. Very malty aroma, hint of yeast. Dark brown colour with a nice red shine, small unstable light brown head. The flavour is very malty and quite nice with good, warming alcohol notes and nice burnt caramel. Mouthfeel is creamy. Aftertaste of aroma hops and bonbon.
