Historical Community Tasting Notes

Preserved from the RateBeer community archive (circa 2000–2018)

2003 bottle No. 015727. Pours mahagony, somewhat cloudy, with no head. Port, plum, and caramel malt (cereal) and yeast (dough) aroma with brown sugar and maple, alcohol notes. Grape caramel malt and alcohol flavor that goes dry hoppy with notes of pears and tart near the end. Full bodied warming dry palate.
(Knoxville Brewers Jam). Pours a fizzy copper orange with not much head. The aroma is mostly caramel and cigars (the sweet, leafy part, not the gross smoky part). The flavor is quite sugary and dominated by burnt caramel with a little bit of alcohol burn in the finish. Good, but I didnt find it too exciting.
Vintage 2005: Extreme madeira finsih to the aroma, sweet and lots of raisins. Taste is full of taste and its the malty and alcolic fruitiness that stands out. Tastes of plums, fruits, port, sherry.
