12-oz aluminum can. Lovely, that. Pours nearly black with a thickish sudsy head that for a minute kind of tries to be moussy. Plenty of webby lacing all down the glass as the head settles. Mild sweet brown bready nose with some cola nut in there. Moderate body, soft carb, gentle flavors. Bread, cola, light roast predominate on the mid-palate. Light
Can. Bought @ lbutikken. Pours a deep mahogany red. Head is yellow-ish beige and quite fizzy - disappears quickly. Aroma is caramel, toffee, barnyard, cocoa, slightly roasted and smoked. Medium carbonation. Flavour is mildly sweet, wood, cocoa. A grassy bitterness at the far end. Not as sweet as other Scotch Ales, very well-rounded.
Can. Tulip glass. Dark brown almost black with a red tinge. Thick tan head. Strong roasted malt aroma with some peat smokiness. Overwhelming roasted chocolate and caramel flavor. Full bodied with creamy mouthfeel and very oily coating of the palate. Very sweet. The finish has no bitterness. Malt monster.
