Glad I got to try this one. 2009 vintage. The beer pours a brownish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is very one dimensional. I get a lot of toffee notes, but that is it. No hops, spices, etc... The flavor is much more complex and a big improvement over the aroma. I get a lot of caramel and toffee malts, but there is also a nice hop compo
Bottle @ Home. Vintage 2009, bottled on 100909. Pours dark amber with a dense offwhite head. Aroma of dark dried fruit, caramel, oak, hint of cinnamon and other spices. Taste is dark ddried fruit, raisins mostly, caramel and chocolate notes, bit of spices like ginger and cinnamon. Medium body, soft carbonation. Good winter warmer. 301210
Nice and hoppy. Though spicy as you would expect a Christmas Ale to be, its also quite fruity, similar to an IPA with a grapefruit taste. Good but not great as a Christmas Ale.
