Thanks to my homey J Carney for smuggling this back from NJ. Pours a medium brown, not too light, not too dark. Has a thin yellowish head. Smells sweet of brown sugar and nuts. There is a touch of the hops as well and of course the barley as well. Tastes sweet up front with quite a bit of bitterness in the background. The hops arent bitter like an
12 ounce bottle. Pours clear dark bown with short lived tan head. Lots of rising bubbles. Notes of dark honey, molasses, raisins, and chocolate in the nose. Quite malty. Roasty. Coffe with sweetner. Very bitter as well. Medium body. High carbonation. Dry finish.
Im not a big brown ale fan but this is the best Ive come across so far. Definite notes of brown sugar and roasted malt in both the smell and taste here. Most of the browns that Ive tried are a little watery but not this one. Quite full of flavor. I really like this.
