This just smells plain good. Stong like you would expect from a stount, and nicely balanced with some chocolate roasted goodness. Color is Nice and black with barely any foam. Strong chalky feel, good hops feel with it too boot. Nice malt complex in it, but I think it is passes up a little much over the hoppy bite.
Beer pours very dark brown/black with big head that is retained throughout. There is heavy lacing, and this beer is beautiful to behold. Aroma is big roasted/smoky malt. Flavor matches with initial malty sweetness, strong smoke flavor, and a dose of hops to finish things off. Another nice brew from Avery.
Black beer, tan head. Creamy coffee aroma. Dry malt, chocolate and hoppy flavor with a nice dry finish. Quality brew.
