UPDATED: JAN 31, 2006 Pours dark reddish brown with creamy white head, mostly diminishing. Some lacing. Aroma is caramel, toffee and chocolate. Flavor is very rich, caramels, chocolate, nuts, and toffee, are followed by quite a bit of hops, perhaps too much. Full bodied, smooth texture, low carbonation, medium finish.
This scottish ale has tons of flavour and body. Its smoky, thick, full, adventurous, but it lacks some drinkability to me. It isnt thick enough to be a good stout style, and the flavour is almost too muchfor how light the mouthfeel is. Im torn on this one.
Brown in color. Quickly disappating head, ends with thin layer. Aroma is predominately caramel, somewhat sweet. Taste is smoky nut flavor, with the caramel coming through as well. Another good selection from a top notch brewer.
