Belgian beer brand Chouffe adds IPA to its England range as demand for hop-forward lagers and ales rises

Chouffe, the Belgian brewery best known for its fruity and spicy ales, is launching an IPA for the English market this autumn, its first in the UK-specific portfolio, in response to growing demand for hop-forward styles across Europe.

Belgian brewery Chouffe is branching into new territory this autumn with the launch of an English-market IPA. Traditionally known for their characteristic farmhouse ales, fruit-accented beers and the famous Chouffe mascot, the brewery has responded to shifting consumer tastes in England, which increasingly favour bold hoppy profiles.

The IPA will be available via wholesalers and in selected independent bottle shops. Chouffe say the new beer blends "tropical hop notes, balanced bitterness and a clean finish" to maintain drinkability, while still appealing to craft beer fans. The release is timed ahead of seasonal behaviour shifts, as drinkers move from lighter beers to fuller, flavour-intensive ales going into autumn.

Industry experts suggest this move could help Chouffe tap into two overlapping trends: (1) the increasing crossover of lager drinkers exploring IPA styles, and (2) the push by breweries to diversify in order to stay relevant amid inflation, rising costs and competition.

While details such as exact ABV and hop varieties haven’t been fully disclosed as of writing, the brewery states the IPA will be a limited seasonal release, with further packaging and distribution plans announced soon.
